On the "for a scientific revolution, you have to wait for the old guard to die out" principle, scientific advance was very slow. Inheritance would be extremely hard since, 999 cases out of a hundred, your great-grandfather is still alive. Severe generational problems, since your parents would still be around when you were 600. There are generational "ranks" within a family based on age. Tensions for revenge and opportunities for malice are greater, since a hated rival could have thousands of years to plan his revenge. On the other hand, the prohibition against murder ITSELF is much greater, since you are stopping a potentially unending life. Revenge tends to be things like robbing one of their livelihood, sleeping with their mate, etc. Murder is so much more to lose. The punishment for murder is not capital punishment, but maiming---blindness, loss of tongue, or loss of hands---forever. (Usually cells regrow, even of major organs lost, but that can be inhibited. If they find they have done it in error---that the accused is really innocent...the inhibiting chemicals can be withdrawn, and the organs will someday grow back.)
Usually one makes a change of city venue every thousand years. It's almost a duty, like a Pilgrimage. Rules tends to be authoritarian and autocratic...imagine what life on Earth would be like if the earliest pharoahs and King Louis XIV were still around. Governments tended to be conservative beyond belief. Revolutions are REALLY grim...a ruler has to be a real stinker to cause such. Flare seasons also encouraged tyrannical societies with emergency powers, for emergency measures to protect anybody. Societies tend to be matriarchal. Since reproduction was relatively rare in their society, giving birth was regarded as almost miraculous. Implanting the fetuses in the wombtrees frees the mother from much of the vulnerability during the latter stages of pregnancy that earth females sometimes experienced, historically. The common language was called Chtile.
